PRESS STATEMENT ON ZAMBIA'S DECLINING RULE OF LAW PERFORMANCE

The statement on the 2026 World Justice Project Rule of Law Index raises serious concerns about the deterioration of fundamental freedoms, weakening institutional checks on government power and the entrenchment of authoritarian practices in Zambia.

In the statement, we call for sustained institutional reforms to strengthen constitutional accountability, protect fundamental rights and ensure that public power is effectively constrained, regardless of who exercises it.
